Are teachers able to provide specific feedback to students to improve their performance and share that information with parents?

In this sample gradebook configuration, assessment of student progress in the course is gathered through various tests and other assignments. Each of these assignments is scored with a raw score, a percentage score, or any teacher or school defined rating scale (+/-, Outstanding/Satisfactory/Needs Improvement, etc.). Total points may be calculated choosing from a variety of ways (average, percent of possible, etc.) to determine an overall level of achievement.

Samples of student work are clustered into "categories" which may be expanded and collapsed in the gradebook. When using this sort of assessment, Anne and other teachers define scoring methodologies and rules for determining the overall achievement score. As they record evidence in their gradebooks, they are able to provide specific information as to how the final score was determined. Anne may attach notes to student scores as necessary to augment the information provided by the grade. Angela and her parents can receive progress reports as needed that provide not only a description of her overall achievement, but give detail on areas of strength and weakness.
